How do I reduce my stress levels?

Move from STRESSED ==>> CALM

 

One of the greatest things that has developed in me over the years as a coach is the ability to manage my own stress levels.

I used to be the person who got angry when somebody didn’t indicate at a roundabout.

I used to get frustrated when somebody would stop in the middle of the shopping centre for no reason.

And I can’t describe the anger I used to feel when somebody would bash my ankles with a shopping trolley.

And that modern frustration of this line…..

“You have an unexpected item in your bagging area”!

Now as I sit here and write this, I find that I am at peace. I am calm and relaxed everywhere I go.

People around me often say “how are you so cam?” or “How is this not stressing you out?” or my favourite, “Why are you not angry?”

Two main reasons for for me no longer getting stressed or angry:

 

Firstly, I understand that the anger and the stress and the frustration brings nothing good into my life.

Getting angry at fellow drivers brings me no good whatsoever but it can impact my life for 30 minutes after the event whilst the driver who caused my stress is happily going on with their life oblivious to the fact that they have had such a negative impact in my day.

I have learnt to let go of anger, frustration and stress. I choose to live my life from a place of calm and relaxation and I take this everywhere I go.

As a result, my life is happy and more content and I refuse to let the little things in life that frustrates so many of us, affected by life.

Your external environment should never influence your internal environment and your internal state in a negative way

Secondly, I have a reason for doing what I do and a key Element in my life that brings me calm.

Spending time with Oscar, walking Oscar in fields, in the park by the lake relaxes me. It brings me joy and happiness every day.

I take him everywhere I go and I spend as much time with him as possible because it’s something I enjoy and that brings calm to my life.

To stay calm, to reduce stress and to reduce frustration you need to find many moments in the day like I do when I’m walking Oscar.

So you need to find time everyday to do something you love. Maybe that’s meditation. Maybe it’s time alone to sit down and drink a cup of tea but you need to find time to relax and put you in that calm, happy state.

Whatever that situation or whoever that person maybe, you need to find time daily to spend with them or doing that activity.

When you live in this happy, relaxed and calm state you will find everything you want in life comes to you.

 

Things are less of a struggle for you now.

 

Losing weight becomes easier.

Making healthy food choices becomes second nature.

Suddenly getting your arse out of bed and going for a run in the morning is not as difficult was it once was.

Your commute to work becomes peaceful and tranquil and no longer are you getting stressed because your train is delayed by five minutes.

Begin to understand there are things that happen in this world that we have no control over and getting stressed about them serves us no purpose whatsoever.
