Try this simple meditation….

Found a quiet place where you can sit comfortably and be undisturbed for the next 5 minutes.

Try to pick a spot that is totally silent with no background noise or distractions.

I want you to sit down (you can lay flat in your back if sitting is uncomfortable) and I want you to slowly breath in through your nose and out through your mouth. I want you to do this for 10 full breathes.

During your 10th exhale, I want you to gently close your eyes and as you do so, allow your breath to return to a natural rhythm.

Now, I want you to spend the next 3-4 minutes focusing on your mind. Your thoughts.

Can you go 10 seconds without a thought coming into your head?

It could be anything from a thought on your breath, how uncomfortable you feel, how silly you feel to something as random as what you are having for dinner tonight.

But can you manage just 10 seconds without any thoughts cycling through your mind?

Most of us can’t do this and this is why we all need meditation in our lives.

Was that tough?

Is this you everyday?

  • You feel the only luck is bad luck and each day is an up hill battle?
  • It takes only the smallest incident to tip you over the edge?
  • Your blood is constantly boiling underneath the skin at other peoples behaviour?
  • Your struggling to find a purpose in your day?
  • As a result, you struggle to get out of bed every morning?
  • You are finding it hard to let go of past traumas?
  • You suffer with daily anxiety.
  • You never have any free time to just sit and rest.

What do you think about meditation?

  • You want to try meditation, but you have no free time to fit it in.
  • Isn’t it just for hippies and monks?
  • I don’t want people to know I meditate, I will feel silly.
  • I don’t know what it really is or where to begin.
  • I’m not sure I can sit cross legged for too long because of my knees/hips/legs etc
  • What’s the point of meditating? I’ll get more benefit from going to the gym!

How can meditation help you?

  • In our modern world we rarely have time to allow our mind and our body to relax, reset and recharge. Meditations gives you that moment each day to get away from your busy life and invest in restoring your health.
  • It is a very precise technique which allows the mind to rest and for the individual to achieve a state of consciousness totally different from the usual state of awareness. It has far-reaching effects enabling the individual to reach all levels of self awareness, peace, relaxation and healing.
  • Meditation brings a stillness and balance that can be utilised within all areas of your life.
  • It will bring clarity to your health, relationships, financial well being and your future with as little as 10 minutes a day in completely safe environment of your choice.
  • Meditation can be practiced anywhere! Sitting in stillness in your spare room with a cup of tea, to a custom Zen room filled with pillows, incense, candles and calming music all the way through to Qi Gong tree practices out in mother nature. The choices are endless.
  • Find the gap between the endless thoughts racing through your head. That gap is for you and meditation helps you connect with your true self again.
  • Meditation greatly reduces anxiety and stress. And by focusing on your breathe, you can even reduce chronic illness such as high blood pressure and IBS.
  • Other benefits include improved concentration levels, clarity of thoughts, improved energy levels, mental resilience, a healthier immune system, greater social connections, improved lung capacity and helps to reduce premenstrual and menopausal symptoms.

How do you meditate?

Mediation can start (as it did for me) with simply sitting in a quiet room with a hot drink and trying to quieten the thoughts within your mind.

This starts by not trying to eliminate thoughts but by slowly trying to increase the gap between those thoughts. It is the space between these thoughts that is the path to inner healing and the leads us to the infinite mind.

After several sessions, you very quickly begin to see the huge benefits of simply lengthening those gaps and focusing on your breathe.

From here, meditation can take you anywhere you choose.  From your 10 minute pre-bedtime quietness to full 60 minute sessions, days in the wild with no digital technology connecting with nature, to Qi Gong and Tai Chi practices as well as some deeper, more in depth meditation that help tackle past traumas that are still hanging around and that no longer serve you.

Whatever your current level of practice, whether you are a complete novice or a Grand Master, you will get huge benefit from these guided meditations.
